Candidates must meet the following eligibility conditions:
- Passed Matriculation (10th) examination with minimum 50% marks in aggregate.
- Completed a 3-year Diploma course from an All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE) recognized Polytechnic Institute with minimum 50% marks in aggregate in one of the approved disciplines listed below.

Stage-I: INET (Indian Navy Entrance Test)
- Separate computer-based tests will be conducted for Electrical and Engineering branches.
- The online examination comprises 100 objective-type questions carrying 1 mark each.
- Questions will be bilingual, available in both Hindi & English.
- The test covers four sections: English & General Awareness, Science, Mathematics, and Diploma (Trade Specific) subjects.
- The duration of the Stage-I exam is 1 hour (60 minutes).
- Negative Marking: There is a penalty of 0.25 marks for every incorrect answer.
Stage-II: Physical Fitness Test & Written Exam
Candidates qualifying the Stage-I INET and basic physical requirements will be called for Stage-II evaluation, which includes:
- The Stage-II written examination will contain 100 Multiple Choice Questions (MCQs) of 1 mark each.
- The paper is bilingual (Hindi & English) and carries four sections: English & General Awareness, Science, Mathematics, and Diploma (Trade Specific).
- The overall duration for the Stage-II written test is 1 hour.
