Complete Eligibility Criteria (5 Stages)

Candidates must satisfy the following five parameters to secure eligibility for seat allotment:

  • Criterion 1 (JEE Main Performance): Candidates must rank among the top 2,50,000 successful candidates (across all categories) in the B.E./B.Tech. paper of JEE (Main) 2026.
  • Criterion 2 (Age Limit): Candidates must meet the specified birth-date cutoffs. A 5-year age relaxation is applicable for SC, ST, and PwD candidates.
  • Criterion 3 (Number of Attempts): A candidate is permitted to write the JEE (Advanced) exam up to a maximum of two times in consecutive years.
  • Criterion 4 (Class XII Examination): Candidates must have written their Class XII (or equivalent) board exams for the first time in either 2025 or 2026 with Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics (PCM) as compulsory subjects.
  • Criterion 5 (Prior IIT Admission): Candidates who have previously been admitted to any IIT (irrespective of program continuation or seat acceptance) are not eligible. Those whose admission was cancelled after joining are also disqualified. However, candidates admitted to an IIT preparatory course for the first time in 2024 can appear.
