Computer Based Test (CBT) Subjects
Educational Qualifications:
- Candidates belonging to General/UR/EWS categories must secure at least 55% marks (without rounding off) in their Master's Degree or equivalent from recognized universities.
- OBC (Non-Creamy Layer)/SC/ST/PwD/Third Gender candidates must secure at least 50% marks (without rounding off) in their Post-Graduation degree.
- Candidates pursuing their Master’s degree, appearing for final year examinations, or awaiting final results are also provisionally eligible. However, they must complete their Master's degree within two years of the declaration of NET results with the required percentage.
Age Limits (as on 01 June 2026):
- Junior Research Fellowship (JRF): Maximum 30 years as on the first day of the month in which the exam concludes (i.e., 01.06.2026). Age relaxation is applicable for reserved categories per guidelines.
- Assistant Professor: There is no upper age limit to apply.
- Admission to PhD: There is no upper age limit to apply.
UGC NET Exam Pattern & Marks Distribution
The UGC NET 2026 exam is a computer-based online test consisting of two objective-type multiple-choice papers. The combined duration for both papers is 3 hours (180 minutes) without any break:
